University of West Florida Foundation Student Study Abroad Scholarships Maximum Award: $2,500 UWF Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship offers study abroad scholarships based on financial need, statement of purpose and academic achievement. Students applying for the Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship must have completed the application process for their chosen program of study by the Scholarship Application Deadline of March 4, 2015. Scholarship applicants who have not completed a program application will not be considered. The UWF Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship is open to students applying to any study abroad location for Summer 2015, Fall 2015, and Spring 2016. The University of West Florida Foundation Student Study Abroad Scholarships is made possible through the generous support of friends and alumni of the University. Eligibility is restricted to current UWF students who have been accepted for participation in a University approved international exchange or sponsored programs. Only one application entry accepted per student. Application Requirements Applicants must complete the online application forms and accompanying documents. In addition, applicants must upload a type-written statement of purpose describing the personal benefits the student expects to receive from the program of study and how it will help meet his/her personal and academic goals. Additional information about financial need, the amount requested, or other information useful in evaluating the application can also be included (500 words or less). Application forms must be completed no later than March 4, 2015. Amount Requested Students may request up to $2,500. Selection Process The Grant Committee will evaluate applications based on the study abroad program description, academic achievement and academic goals, financial need, and activities/work experience, and statement of purpose. Awards will be announced once a year according to a timeline established by the Study Abroad Scholarship Committee (Fall, Spring or Summer study abroad applications will be evaluated in the Spring of each academic year) and will be applied directly to the student’s Nautilus account at the start of the program semester. Recipient Expectations Recipients are required to sign a contract of obligation as a condition of receiving funds from the UWF Foundation. In addition, returning students who received scholarship awards may be asked to submit a brief report or participate in activities that describe the knowledge and insights gained during the study abroad experience. The report should be submitted to the OIEP, Building 71, no later than 30 days after returning from the study abroad experience. Participation in study abroad activities may be scheduled in the semester following the study abroad experience. Questions?
