Edinburgh Napier University is located in the heart of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. "Napier," as the university is known locally, is named for John Napier – inventor of logarithms and the decimal point. Napier has long history of educational programs based in Science, Engineering, and Math.

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, a major UK city and home to the Scottish Parliament.
Clean, compact and safe, Edinburgh tops the list of European cities where people would most like to live. Lively, diverse and vibrant, the population of Edinburgh is around 460,000 and as it is home to four universities; making the city a respected place of learning.
The location is also well-suited for degrees offered at Edinburgh Napier: for anyone studying journalism, Edinburgh is the center of political activity in Scotland; for those interested in festival and event management, the city is home to the world's largest arts festival; for those studying business, it is a key financial sector and the university offers strong industry links.
Public transport in Edinburgh is excellent. Buses go all over the city, even late at night. Visiting student do not need to worry about a car - many residents of Edinburgh never own a car.
Edinburgh Napier University is a great base for exploring Europe on a budget. Low-cost airlines like easyJet and Ryanair fly from the Edinburgh airport and offer incredibly cheap fares to destinations all over Ireland, the UK, and continental Europe.


Application
After submitting initial application for approval to UWF International Center, UWF will issue a letter confirming your approval. Students must submit the following items to Edinburgh Napier University:

Current transcript with at least 2.5 GPA (or equivalent)
Personal statement
Two academic references
A copy of the personal details page of your passport
Portfolio or audition CD for applications to Film, Design and Music modules

Academics
Academic majors are known as Courses at Napier. Classes are called modules.
Visiting Exchange Students enroll in a full course load of 60 credit points – equivalent to 12 hours at UWF for undergraduate students. UWF Seniors and Graduate students would have opportunities for research and independent study in addition to regularly scheduled classes.


Accommodation/Housing
University-managed accommodation near campuses in Edinburgh, for a very competitive rate - or you may wish to look for a private sector flat. If you would like any advice such as which neighbourhoods to focus your search on, don't hesitate to contact us using the details on the right.
Weekly rent in Edinburgh Napier accommodation is between £101 and £125 per week dependent on flat allocation. Rent includes heating, electricity and internet access.
Private sector accommodation expenses vary and utilities expenses are an additional fee per month.


Visas
Students who will stay for the full year must apply for a Tier 4 student visa in advance of departure and can find guidance at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/visiting/student/

If you are coming to study for a single trimester, you won't need to apply for a Tier 4 student visa - instead you will enter as a student visitor. Student visitors are allowed to come to the UK for 6 months. Edinburgh Napier will supply you with a letter which you can use as evidence of this. You will not be eligible to work part-time or extend your stay for an additional trimester. You can find more information on the UK Border Agency website.
