UWF Partner institution INSA Lyon offers coursework in Engineering for UWF students in France. France is famous for the quality of its engineering programs. France’s engineering programs combine rigorous training in science with practical training in engineering. The close relations between France's engineering schools and the business world enhance the quality and relevance of the instruction students receive. Ranked #4 by British QS World University ranking is the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon or INSA Lyon in France. Lyon, France: Lyon is a major industrial center in the southeast of France only two hours by train from Paris. The Saone and Rhone rivers both run through the city. Lyon emerged as a Renaissance silk-trading center; fine weaving is still maintained, and several museums are devoted to textile arts. The city's fine arts museum has collections of Spanish, Dutch, Impressionist and early twentieth-century paintings. Lyon has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998. Former capital of the Gauls, the city bears witness to 2000 years of continuous history. Its remarkable heritage is enriched with signature buildings by contemporary architects such as: Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, Santiago Calatrava. On the edge of the Lyon-Villeurbanne conurbation, in an area that is rich in open spaces (Tête d'Or park, Feyssine pedestrian area), with an international outlook (International Residence, Interpol Head Quarters), the LyonTech campus (la Doua) benefits from a dense network of communication routes. Thus, any student admitted to INSA Lyon can ask to be allocated a room or accommodation in one of the 11 residences available on campus. Campus Meal Service (http://www.insa-lyon.fr/en/living-lyon-tech-campus-1): All students accommodated in INSA Lyon's residences can eat in the establishment's restaurants. INSA Lyon's restaurants prepare and serve breakfasts and meals for students on all 7 days, 11 months out of 12. Medical Care (http://www.insa-lyon.fr/fr/node/271): Service infirmary with students includes four nurses, one physician for care, one psychiatrist and two doctors for prevention. Missions of the infirmary are to care, listen, support and monitor. Counseling and prevention are carried out in an ongoing effort to help and provide information to students. Physician for students provides consultations 2 times a week, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between 12 pm and 3 pm. These consultations are free. Students must register with CampusFranceUSA to receive an important document required for visa application. Application for a student visa to France requires an in-person appointment at the Consulate of Application. Most UWF students will apply at the Consulate of France in Miami. Appointments for visa application should be made no later than 6 weeks before your scheduled departure. Tentative Application date for Fall/year in France is August 1; for spring, December 7. If students are able to make their appointments during November, this will decrease the possibilities of delays with visa processing over the winter holidays.
