Program Description

The Irish Experience: The Emerald Coast Meets The Emerald Isle

UWF Music Department will offer a unique opportunity for UWF students in Summer 2016.

Special Application with the UWF Music Department is required. Contact Blake Riley for more information. briley@uwf.edu. This listing is for students who have been approved by UWF Music as participants in the summer 2016 Irish Experience Program.

Academics
Students elected for Emerald Coast to Emerald Ilse will register for 2 courses.

Program Details
After student selection is completed by the UWF Music Department, participating students will prepare to perform as part of the Eigse Carlow Arts Festival in Ireland in June 2016.
While in Ireland, students will begin working on Irish Music. The group will also have the opportunity to see the sights and sounds of this play first hand and discuss the themes of the show with the people and to see the world from their perspective. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the Borris House Festival of Writing and Ideas. As part of the Festival of Writing and Ideas, the students will be able to hear Irish, English, and American authors talk about their work. Students will also have the opportunity to attend The History of Ireland Festival.

The Irish music will performed at UWF at the start of the fall 2016 semester.

Students selected to participate will be required to attend orientation for study abroad during Spring 2016 to prepare for the summer experience.
