Housing / Accommodations:
Winterthur has very attractive residential areas and a high standard of living. The ZHAW School of Management and Law International Office assists incoming exchange students to find accommodation.
*Housing arranged by the ZHAW School of Management and Law
A number of single, furnished student rooms and apartments are reserved for exchange students. Incoming students can place their application for a room directly via SWOWI. Places are limited, therefore, early application is important to ensure the accommodation of choice.
*Other arrangements
Incoming students may also choose to arrange their accommodation themselves. To find other accommodation than offered by the International Office, we recommend the following websites linked on the ZHAW site.
Students.ch, German (Switzerland's largest student network with housing service)
Homegate, German (Swiss housing website)
wg-zimmer (Swiss housing website for apartment sharing )
clicklodge

*Students with disabilities
Wheelchair accessible rooms and housing is provided at the dormitory-type Camp Maximus, German. The nearest bus stop with busses to Winterthur main train station (5 minutes from the ZHAW School of Management and Law) is approximately 100m from the building.
The ZHAW School of Management and Law International Office will arrange housing at Camp Maximus. Please inform us in advance if you have special accommodation needs.

Health Requirements / Insurance:
Basic health insurance is required by law in Switzerland. In most cases, exchange students can fulfill this obligation by presenting confirmation of cover from their health insurer at home.
Students from UWF must have their insurer fill in and sign the Form A. In addition, students must present a copy of their health insurance contract indicating the benefits.
This form is in addition to the proof of study abroad insurance process at UWF.

Liability insurance
Liability insurance covers damages to other persons and property caused by the policy holder. Liability insurance is not legally required, and no proof of such insurance is necessary for enrolment at the ZHAW School of Management and Law. However, it is recommended that exchange students are insured for such incidents. Before departure from their home countries, students should check with their insurer whether their insurance covers liability during stays abroad. Students wishing to take out liability insurance cover in Switzerland can do so for CHF 100.- to CHF 150.- a year.

VISA Information:
Student planning to study in Switzerland must submit all of the required documents and long-stay visa application to the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta, GA. Swiss Visa processing takes 8 weeks on average, followed by two weeks to send your passport and receive the actual visa once approved. Students should submit the required documents and application no later than October 15 for their student visa if planning to study in Spring and no later than July 15 if planning to study in Fall or for the academic year. General Swiss visa application details can be found on the Consulate General Atlanta website.
